Walking Alongside You Toward Wholeness

About James Semiene the therapist

providing virtual therapy in Texas

I know what it’s like to carry weight that others can’t see.

As a retired veteran, I’ve lived through the discipline, the sacrifice, and the transitions that come with military life — and I understand the silence that often surrounds what happens after the uniform comes off. I’ve also walked the path of being a Black man navigating a world that doesn’t always make space for our struggles, our healing, or our humanity to be fully seen.

That’s why I do this work.

I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate, practicing under the supervision of Dr. Katrina Landry, PhD, LPC-S, and I bring more than clinical training into our sessions together. I bring lived experience, spiritual grounding, and a genuine understanding of what it means to be strong for everyone else while quietly wondering who’s checking in on you.

If you’re a veteran adjusting to life after service, or a Black man carrying pressure you’ve never had the space to put down, I want you to know: you don’t have to have it all figured out to start. You don’t have to perform strength here. This is a space where your story matters, your faith can have a seat at the table if you want it to, and your healing is treated with the seriousness and respect it deserves.

Therapy isn’t a sign of weakness — it’s a discipline, just like anything else worth mastering. I’d be honored to walk that path with you.

Let’s talk.

James Semiene’s Therapeutic Focus

His provides individual counseling grounded in Attachment Theory, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and mindfulness-based practices. This integrative approach is designed to help clients feel genuinely heard, understood, and supported as they work toward meaningful, lasting change.

Drawing on evidence-based clinical methods, I create a therapeutic environment where clients can safely examine the thought patterns, emotional responses, and relational dynamics that shape their daily lives — building practical skills for long-term growth.

Through counseling with James, clients can learn tools to:

Manage anxiety and depression-using CBT-based strategies to identify and reframe unhelpful thought patterns

Address racial and cultural impacts on Black Males– providing culturally responsive care that acknowledges the unique pressures, identity challenges, and societal expectations Black men often navigate

Navigate the transition from military to civilian life — supporting veterans through identity shifts, reintegration challenges, and the emotional adjustments that accompany this life change

Promote individual growth and healthier relationships — strengthening self-awareness, communication, and relational patterns

A Collaborative, Insight-Oriented Approach

Together, clients and James work to challenge limiting thoughts and beliefs, building lasting skills in self-acceptance, resilience, and healthy relationship dynamics. Whether you’re navigating anxiety, depression, or a significant life transition, therapy explores how past experiences, thought patterns, and emotions are interconnected — helping you move toward a more fulfilling, meaningful life.

James works with individuals seeking a therapist who understands the specific challenges tied to identity, culture, and life transitions, offering a space where clients can process their experiences without judgment and build a clearer path forward.
